Manas* and his family were changed forever after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in 2015. The damage was the worst in remote rural areas, and most families like his had no help in picking up the pieces of their lives.
“I was with my mother and sister in the forest when the earthquake came,” Manas remembers. “I was so afraid. When we came back from the forest, our house was destroyed. And we lost both of my grandmothers. After the earthquake, we had a problem getting enough food to eat.”
Manas and his family began to receive the help they desperately needed after Convoy of Hope’s immediate response provided them with emergency supplies. In 2016, Convoy of Hope started a daily feeding program for the children in Manas’ village. Through the program, he attended school and received daily nutritious meals.
“I’m not worried about being hungry anymore, so I can study hard and get good grades,” says Manas. “Now, I am the first boy in my class. I want to be a doctor when I grow up, so I can help provide for my family and help other people, too. Helping other people is important.”
Now Manas can focus on his future and his dreams. Thank you for providing him — and hundreds of thousands of other children all around the world — with hope.
